Takim Holidays: Siringit Serengeti - Introducing a luxury Camp

11/30/2017

We are excited to introduce to you a brand new luxury tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti National Park.  Siringit Serengeti Camp, which opened in August 2017 is the latest addition to the central Serengeti area which is known for its magnificent year-round wildlife viewing.  From our first few guests who have already stayed there, we have had fantastic reviews about the location, service and luxury amenities.
LocationThe camp is located six kilometres East of Seronera Airstrip on a site originally selected to host a group of visitors from Yellow Stone National Park in the United States. Because of its convenient location, natural beauty and abundance of wildlife, the parks management gazetted this idyllic spot as an official private campsite. Aside from its convenient location for guests flying into Seronera Airstrip, the camp is one hour’s drive from ‘Naabi Hill,’ the gateway to the Serengeti National Park for guests arriving by road from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The famous Hippo pool and the departure point for balloon Safaris are also close by.
AccommodationThe camp has 8 accommodation tents and a 2-bedroom family tent. The entire camp enjoys 24 hour electricity from a state of the art solar system (with back-up generator). Piped hot and cold water are also available night and day throughout the property. All tents, including the lounge and dining tents, sit atop raised wooden platforms manufactured using sustainable teak timber from the Kilombero Valley in Southern Tanzania.
ManagementThe General Manager of Siringit Serengeti Camp has 20 years’ experience managing properties for Hilton Hotels and The Elewana Collection. He is also the holder of a PhD in wildlife ecology and is a fountain of knowledge on both wildlife and the Serengeti environment.
CateringThe culinary experience is handled by Axel Janssens Signature Catering.’ Axel is generally considered to be the most exciting chef on the Northern Safari circuit and he and his highly trained team create exceptional culinary experience for all guests at this luxury camp.

Kruger National Park - a Top Destination: Into Africa

The Greater Kruger National Park is one of the top destinations worldwide for wildlife lovers and anyone wanting to experience a true and authentic African safari.
What makes Kruger so special? Besides being the oldest National Park in South Africa, it comprises of more than two million hectares of pristine wilderness (the same size as some countries in Europe), also making it the largest park in the country. This mega reserve is home to hundreds of thousands of animals amongst which are the famous Big Five: elephants, buffalos, rhinos, lions and the elusive leopards. All these animals roam freely in their element making them all that more incredible to spot.
When searching for safari accommodation, the infrastructure, facilities and style are all aspects that need to be considered when making your choice. Location can also be a key factor when it comes to accessibility, animal sightings as well as privacy during game drives. The lodges located in their own private reserves such as Thornybush, Manyeleti and Sabi Sands, all world renowned non-fenced reserves bordering Kruger, offer more exclusivity when it comes to this also allowing their guests to experience the wild at a more calmer pace not being stuck in traffic around the animals which often occurs in Kruger’s public roads. A strict policy regarding the maximum amount of game vehicles allowed around a sight is in place to ensure that this does not interfere with the animal’s natural behavior and also to allow guests to have close encounters wherever possible.
In April 2017, Into Africa hosted a Top Executive VIP Group from a very important Airline in South America. The trip was organized with the purpose of showcasing the best South Africa has to offer and a big part of this experience was their stay at in a Safari Lodge. Thornybush Game Lodge was the property chosen for this group due it’s exquisite style and perfect combination between luxury and nature. This beautiful lodge was the perfect place for an unforgettable two nights stay. It offers easy accessibility via air charters with its own airstrip just a couple of minutes away from the main lodge allowing guests to maximize the time spent and enjoy the experience fully.
Guest not only enjoyed the hospitality, delicious food and large beautifully decorated rooms of Thornybush Game Lodge but also the amazing safaris in the Thornybush Game Reserve. They were able to spot four of the Big Five in just four game drives leaving only the leopard to be missed. This was reason enough for some members of the group to plan their next trip to South Africa to be able to say that they have seen all of the Big 5 animals in the wild! This time they will be accompanied by family as many found that this country is also a great family destination.

Imvelo Safari Lodge - Jozibanini Camp – RATED BY THE TIMES' 'BEST FOR THE GREAT OUTDOORS

7/12/2017

The Times’ December 2016 write up on Jozi:  “Hwange National Park, perfect for savouring that wilderness spirit. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, with just three en suite tents raised on wooden decking and sheltered under camelthorn trees. There’s no mess tent: you dine under stars as the campfire crackles away nearby. With the bed rolled out on to your deck, you can sleep under the stars too. Watch the wildlife close up from a well-camouflaged hide by Jozibanini Pan, walk through the woodlands or go mountain-biking along old elephant trails. There’ll be no one else around — the nearest neighbors are a four-hour drive away.”

If you are looking for somewhere off the beaten track this coming dry season, Jozibanini Camp in the remote south west of Hwange National Park is just the place...  When we say Jozi is ‘remote’ and ‘exclusive,’ we really do mean exactly that; you will be among the first tourists to visit this part of Hwange for a very long time.  The camp is simple but comfortable, with bucket showers and campfire style dining, a day’s game drive from our other Imvelo properties.  Jozibanini offers some very unique activities to Hwange including game viewing by mountain bike, beds that slide out onto the tent decks for a 'star bed' experience and a look up game viewing hide in front of the camp waterhole which makes for excellent close up photographic opportunities of Hwange's giants, the elephants.

Breaking News from Into Africa

9/6/2016

South Africa is pumping! The rand is still very favorable for us which make South Africa a fantastic “good value for money” destination apart from being one of the most beautiful and exciting countries in the world. There are new exciting hotels, guesthouses, lodges and restaurants opening up more or less on a daily basis.

The breaking news from Into Africa involves key staff changes. Lut who has worked together with Nick for 21 years has stepped down from operational involvement in Into Africa, but remains a shareholder and will continue to consult on and offer advice to the company. Fortunately we have an excellent team of experienced project managers who are taking on additional responsibility to fill the rather large “boots” vacated by Lut.

Frances is now responsible for the leisure department which incorporates special interest groups and technical study visits.  Frances and I will be working closely in the Nordic market.  The leisure side of the business is growing nicely and we are in the process of recruiting staff to meet the demand. Alex is responsible for the conference and incentive team.

Nick remains at the helm of the company.  He will be going to Barcelona for IBTM which is now only 4 months away.  He looks forward to meeting you there for a personal update.  Into Africa will also be present at Meetings Africa at the end of February 2017.  We will be inviting buyers to this show which will incorporate a pre tour starting in Cape Town on the 25th February 2017. If you are interested in joining, please let us know.

A bit about Takims Holidays

9/6/2016

I added Takims Holidays in Tanzania to my portfolio earlier this year. Its been a great beginning and I can truly recommend their services. It is a family run and very personalized company with their own fleet of vehicles and offices in DAR, Arusha and Stonetown. For world-class game viewing, genuine cultural interaction and magnificent scenery, Tanzania is hard to beat. Reserves like the Serengeti, famous for the annual Great Migration and the Ngorongoro Crater are icons of Africa. The vast, less busy Selous & Ruaha in the south provide visitors with spell binding safari experiences, offering game drives, exploration by  foot and also by boat.

At the beginning of June I had the opportunity to visit Tanzania and my main focus for this trips was southern Tanzania although I also visited Serengeti & more. Both Selous and Ruaha National Parks took me by storm. I loved the untouched wilderness with less visitors, where the sense of the African bush is so strong.  These areas are not for the first time visitor to Africa, but for the keen “Africa Lovers” who are looking for the more remote areas and an unique experience.

Selous National Park with its rivers, lakes and bush experiences, the size of Switzerland (or four times the size of Serengeti),is the largest game reserve in Africa, covering 52,000km¬2 of pristine wilderness. The park offers a wide variety of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, crocodile and many antelope and bird species. The Rufiji River flows through the park and the terrain varies from riverine forest and flood plains with oxbow lagoons, to low mopane forest.

The remote and wild Ruaha National Park, is Tanzania’s second largest park, covering 13,000 sq kms. Large populations of the great predators are present in the park and lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas and wild dogs are all sighted.
The ample diversity in vegetation results in extremely abundant bird life.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park is the perfect place for hikers! The park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing and forest walks. With no road access, the only way in is by foot along one of the many trails. Here the mountains keep their secrets from all, but the most adventurous. There are several trails ranging from short 20 minutes strolls to 5 days expeditions. A great experience for all the keen Nordic hikers!
